The Battle Within...

I have always heard that happiness lies in the little things. And yes! I have learnt to enjoy the happiness in little things lately. But, in this meanwhile I have realized that I have even learnt to feel the sadness in little things.

Today morning when I woke up I heard my neighbours cat yelling so badly. I saw she was searching something vigorously everywhere. Initially I did not understand what was the reason. But when my mom told me the reason behind her grief my heart ached. Just 3 weeks back this cat has given birth to a very cute kitten. The baby was very active and naughty and would keep hoping all the day here and there. But, I got to know from my mom that since morning it was missing. It was a terrible moment to look at the mother cat searching her kid so helplessly.

I woke up with such a bad moment today and since than my mindset is very disturbed. Sometimes I feel the people who know us or meet us has an image about us that we are so strong. Our friends, our colleagues, our relatives, our siblings, our parents, nobody, absolutely nobody knows about the battle that we fight within. And all this is because we have mastered ourself in faking it.

  2. Oh I can completely understand what you much be going through. Such things do disturb me very much. :( Being a cat lover like yourself, I am heartbroken to know about the mommy cat looking for her baby. I really hope, the kitten was not a victim of the stray dogs around or came under a vehicle. At this time, we can only think about what bad could have happened but I really hope the mommy cat finds her baby and I hope it gives you a peace of mind as well. That quote is very apt.

  3. Oh! This is sad, mother is a mother, be it human or cat. And your quote is so true. We have mastered the art of faking. But Sonia, you know sometimes we don't want to share our sorrows as we feel that other person might not value/understand our emotions. But the last line is so so true. Feel good, be happy, we all like you like that. Else, bake a cake :)

  5. So sad.. Poor mummy cat.. I hope she'll find her baby..
Sonia darling, I'm also like you.. feel touched and down easily.. I used to cry every time I saw a cat or dog (got hit by vehicle and) died by the roadside.. and this thing will keep on playing in my mind and I'll be down the whole day..
But now it's different.. I still cry but I'll try to forget about it and keep myself busy not to think about it.. I've learnt that this is life.. We have to learn to overcome all these sadness within to live a happy life.. We have to create a happy situation.. But that doesn't mean we've fake our feeling.. We changed it..
I loved the way you describe your feelings into those last lines.. so true..
But be happy babe! Don't worry much ok.. :))
    XOXO

    1. Ur so right Jenny.. When there is no need to mask our happiness then why should we hide our sorrow.. Why so much of differences with the emotions of the same person :(

  10. Missing a loved one is equally painful for a human or an animal! Loved your sentiments , Sonia:)

  11. You have written it so thoughtfully and emotionally. I can understand your pain for the mother cat that lost her baby. And what you say is so right and has a deep meaning to it. We all choose to fight our inner battles in different ways but the common thing is we certainly mask it from others and most of us prefer to cry inside more than outside.

The last line is so beautiful.

  18. Yes, we have become expert in saying" I am fine", while internally we are no where near being fine. However, it is the best and the most positive way to respond to the question often asked casually by everybody, "how are you?"
If we started narrating our misery, it would only encourage the other person also to start reeling of his/ her misery, and like a chain it would catch on, making everybody miserable.
But if we say we are fine it means we are affirming the positive within us, thereby inviting positiveness from the Universe.
We think animals do not feel like us, but they too feel and are pained just as us by the loss of something dear to them, only thing is they don't hold on to such feelings like we do for a long time. They do their duty and forget about their children, once they are old enough to be independent. Such a contrast to us who like to keep clinging to our children all our lives.
I am sorry if I have gone off track, but your picture "I am fine", prompted this response from me.

    1. Thank u for such an insightful comment Ramaji.. Every word of yours is so true. And yes animals easily move on and do not cling to their griefs for long and carry on with their routine life.. We human being need to learn a lot from these..
Thank u so much for the beautiful words :)
